Citizen's Police Academy

I do a lot of the research for my romantic thrillers in the library and the internet. But there’s no substitute for personal experience. So when I got the opportunity to sign up for my city’s citizen’s police academy, I jumped! I and ten other citizens covered a lot in ten weeks. Here’s a brief overview of our adventures.

Here I am checking out the cars with my fellow academy members and our academy's fearless leader Detective Dave Haselow.
Lt. Chuck Foulke shows me and my all female detection team how to analyze a crime scene.
Lifting prints with the award winning all-female team and our mentor, Officer Greg Dixon.
Officer Travis Kakuske holds me at gunpoint in a demonstration for my upcoming Intrigue, VOW TO PROTECT (August, 2006).
Officer Rich O'Connor handcuffs me while Travis makes sure I don't try anything.
Sgt. Steve Britt and Detective Craig Faga give us directions as we attempt to negotiate the Emergency Vehicle Operation Course.
Proof that they let me drive a police car.
And they let me handle firearms. Can you believe it? These are virtual, part of the Firearms Training System...
...but here I'm shooting the real thing, even though you can't actually see the gun. You'll just have to trust me.
And here I am hanging out with our fearless leader, Detective Dave Haselow, and instructor, ride-along officer and future leader of the citizen's academy, Officer David Kasdorf.
Graduation! Here's the whole group.
